First roof wrap installation
One of my best friends wanted a gloss black roof wrap on his BMW 440i. I didn’t know how to do it, so I did thorough research.
At first I didn’t know where to begin to figure out how to accomplish this task. Then, I began learning about some different vinyl and watching YouTube videos of different car wrap shops teaching tips on how to do it. A lot of them were emphasising that you should take your time, double or triple check your work, and make sure the car is as clean as possible.
In this photo I am cleaning between the windshield trim, so when I put the wrap on it sticks to a clean surface.
Research process
The car was thoroughly cleaned before I even started. I removed the roof trims first and than I started the cleaning process using 70% Isopropyl alcohol and claybaring the roof. After all of that I taped off the windshield and then I used a tack cloth on the roof before laying the vinyl.

Wrap install
I ran into some problems on this part of laying down the vinyl mostly because I was outside and somewhat windy. I also didn’t know how to take off the sharkfin and I wasn’t comfortable doing it either, so I had to cut around the sharkfin as I was laying the vinyl down which was a difficult process. There were some air bubbles that were hard to get out and I got all of them. I know I did a good job for my first time but there is definitely room for improvement.
In the photo I am glassing the roof with the vinyl and squeegeeing it along with making my cuts. Had I have been indoors I’m confident this would’ve been a quicker process and cleaner.
Finished product
I want to do more and I want to be a beast at it! I have so much to learn and I will soak up everything I can. Eventually want to be involved in the entire creative process of the wrap design process and also have the ability to wrap just as good.
